How LinkedIn Can Really Benefit Virtual Assistants

A collective sigh goes up. Not another social networking site to eat into the already precious time of the Virtual Assistant? Hang on though – before you run away, frightened that it’s just another place to tell the world you’ve just eaten a Jaffa Cake (or even more daringly, you might have one in a bit), think again. Facebook: New timeline sizes

Facebook is changing – and as a virtual assistant, you need to be ahead of the changes!

The most obvious change is the new timeline.  This is a really nice gizmo, but it does mean you need to keep the content on there up to date.  You’ll also want to add important dates on your timeline – when you launched, when services were added, team expanding etc. A nice touch is that you can have “pinned posts” that remain at the top of the list for important info.

The other obvious change is that the profile picture dimensions have changed and you may need to resize your photos/logos.  List of the new sizes from DreamGrow. Continue reading

A Day in the Life…by Imogen Bowen

Hello and Welcome to my World (or at least a snapshot of it).
This is my Life in a Day as a VA.

Tea, coffee and biscuits in a cupboard.

7:00am
The laptop is safely out of reach and it’s time to focus on spelling tests, breakfast and reminding 3 year old that pants are indeed essential attire for nursery. Then it’s keys, bikes and the school run is good to go.

A Day in the Life….. by Janet Walker

9.45 am

I’m a nocturnal type so, having eventually overcome my allergy to the morning, I let the family all get out of the house, clear up the kitchen and open and date the post before I start my commute of 14 paces down the garden to the office I share with my husband, who also runs a small business.  He has put my computer on but I’ve probably already sneaked a look at my emails on my BlackBerry so I know what’s in store.  I flag my emails different colours according to the client to whom they relate, check my desk diary for the To Do list and general focus of the day, and access Facebook for any work-related messages and to send any birthday greetings before I get started on client work.
